Tri Delta Privacy Policy http://www.tridelta.org/other/privacypolicy This site is owned and operated by Delta Delta Delta (Tri Delta). Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. At Tri Delta, we want to make your experience online satisfying and safe.

content-dotted-line.png

Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we feel you should fully understand our policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.

Usage Tracking
Tri Delta tracks user traffic patterns. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. Tri Delta does break down overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser).

Tri Delta gathers two types of information about users:

  • Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions such as requests to receive our electronic newsletters, to participate in our Idea Center, to submit information to The Trident or news submissions, or news comments or participation in polls and surveys.
  • Information Tri Delta gathers through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our sites. This information allows us to better tailor our content to members' needs. Tri Delta sometimes tracks and catalogs the search terms that users enter in our Search function, but this tracking is never associated with individual users. We use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you.

Optional Voluntary Information

We offer the following services, which require some type of voluntary submission of personal information by users:

1. Electronic newsletters policy
We offer free electronic newsletters to subscribers. Tri Delta gathers the e-mail addresses of those who voluntarily subscribe. Users may remove themselves from these mailing lists by following the link provided in every newsletter that points users to the subscription management page. Members will automatically receive some newsletters by virtue of their membership in Tri Delta and in some cases because of their volunteer or officer positions within their chapters.

2. Idea Center/Comments policy
Members have access to the site's Idea Center and news comment feature by logging into the Deltas Only section of the Web site. In order to post ideas or comments, members must agree that they will follow the policies and site terms of use. News submissions and submissions to The Trident are also available to members through Deltas Only.

3.  Surveys
Tri Delta may occasionally conduct user surveys to better target our content to our audience. We never share any of this information about specific individuals with any third party.

To protect online privacy, Tri Delta does the following:

Tri Delta collects and stores only personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide.

From General Users
Tri Delta does not collect any personal information from users browsing its Web site. Only aggregate data -- such as the number of hits per page -- are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.

From Tri Delta Members:
To gain access to Deltas Only resources and personalization features on www.tridelta.org, members are asked to claim their account. This information is submitted voluntarily.

The Deltas Only section of this Web site allows Tri Deltas to search for sisters.  Members have the option to make their personal information private and thus not available to other Tri Deltas who have logged into Deltas Only.  If the information is not marked "private" then the member's information will be available to other members.

Members agree, as a condition of use, to use the search function solely for the convenience of the members of Tri Delta Fraternity so that they may establish contact with Tri Delta members and/or volunteers for the sole purpose of conducting Tri Delta business. E-mails, addresses and other contact information may not be used for any personal or commercial gain, including but not limited to:  scholarships, philanthropic causes, business ventures, political campaigns, etc.  Members who are found in violation of this policy will be sent a warning by the Executive Board.

Additionally, for some e-mails sent in HTML format by Tri Delta to its members and subscribers through electronic newsletters, we will collect specific information regarding what the recipient does with that e-mail. For those e-mails, Tri Delta may monitor whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes: e-mail address of a user, the date and time of the user's "click," a message number, name of the list from which the message was sent, tracking URL number and destination page. Tri Delta only uses this information to enhance its service to members. This information is not sold or distributed in any other manner.

How Does Tri Delta Use Data Collected?

Tri Delta uses any information voluntarily given by our members and Web site users to enhance their experience, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the sites or to better prepare future content. As stated above, we use information that users voluntarily provide in order to send out electronic newsletters and to enable users to participate in surveys, message boards and comments sections. We send out newsletters to subscribers on a regular schedule (depending on the newsletter), and occasionally send out special editions when we think subscribers might be particularly interested in something we are doing.
We use tracking information to determine which areas of our site users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for our members. We track search terms entered in Search function as one of many measures of what interests our users. But we don't track which terms a particular user enters. Tri Delta creates aggregate reports on user demographics and traffic patterns. We will not disclose any information about any individual user except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.

Disclosures to Third Parties

On occasion, Tri Delta may also provide limited data to its national partners that offer products and services to members. Users may request Tri Delta refrain from disclosing the data it collects to third parties by contacting Tri Delta at web@trideltaeo.org to express their preferences.

Credit Card Account Information

Tri Delta does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and Delta Shop customers. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, Tri Delta submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate clearinghouse.

Children

Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent.
