Our commitment to Children's Cancer Charities represents the collective effort of Tri Delta's members and chapters across the United States and Canada who continue to donate goods, volunteer time and host fund-raisers for the research and treatment of children with cancer.

As early as 1970, interest was expressed in a national philanthropy that would combine fundraising and volunteer work. It was intended that this national philanthropy not interfere with fundraising for scholarships, and that it have both local and national importance. A third stipulation was that the chosen philanthropy be one that was not already supported by another Natonal Panhellenic Conference group. Research prior to the 1974 Convention found greatest interest in children, hospitals and cancer. The recommendations to that Convention were to adopt a philanthropy program that emphasized pediatric oncology and hematology, and to encourage participation in a national Sleighbell Luncheon on the first Tuesday of December. This national event was renamed Sleighbell Day in 1976 and then in 1990, the entire philanthropy program was renamed Children's Cancer Charities.

Since 1974, Tri Deltas have raised more than $14 million in support of children's cancer hospitals, research facilities and cancer camps.

In 1999, Delta Delta Delta officially adopted St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as its philanthropic partner. During 2009, Tri Delta celebrated 10 years of partnership with St. Jude.

This philanthropic cause encompasses a wide array of charitable organizations and represents the collective effort of Tri Delta's members and chapters across the United States and Canada who continue to donate goods, volunteer time and host fund-raisers for the research and treatment of children with cancer.

Chapters organize and plan their own events each year to raise money for the Children's Cancer Charity of their choosing.

Tri Delta's partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital allows chapters the option to help on a national level while continuing to support local causes. Since beginning the partnership in 1999, Tri Delta has raised more than 17 million dollars.

$15 Million in 5 years http://www.tridelta.org/philanthropy/st_jude_15in5 Tri Delta sets new fundraising goal for St. Jude.

content-dotted-line.png

Children Statues.jpgIn July 2010, Tri Delta announced it would take on a new, more aggressive challenge - to raise $15 million in 5 years to name the Specialty Clinic located in the Patient Care Center at St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

No other Greek organization has had this level of commitment to a charitable partner, and few are raising a comparable amount of money. This new goal challenges the collegiate chapters of Tri Delta to raise $3 million each year, collectively.

The Specialty Clinic houses a broad range of difference services for St. Jude patients. At some point during their care at St. Jude, each child will likely be referred to a clinic within the Specialty Clinic.

The following services are provided in the Specialty Clinic: cardiology, gynecology, immunology, neurology, pain management, pre-operative surgery care and pulmonary care.

content-dotted-line.png

Since 1999, the partnership between Tri Delta Fraternity and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has grown into a wonderful friendship, deeply rooted in our shared values of unselfish leadership, progressive thinking, and service to others.

Here are some specific events and campaigns that Tri Delta is supporting in the coming months.

Give thanks. Walk
Give Thanks. Walk Website

In 2012, over 125 Tri Delta teams with family & friends raised over $125,000 from the Give thanks. Walk.

This is such a great way for alumnae members to support St. Jude in their own communities. Save the date for the 2013 Give thanks. Walk taking place on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in over 90 cities across the country.

Tri Delta Game Day
Game Day is a fun-filled viewing party that allows students to come together and watch their team during an away game. Have food, prizes, and contests for attendees. Start a new tradition on your campus and support your team and the kids of St. Jude by hosting a Tri Delta Game Day event.

Sincerely Yours letter-writing campaigns
The program encourages each chapter member (or event participants) to send 50 letters to family, friends and neighbors asking for them to donate money to St. Jude. All participants have to do is complete 50 letters and watch the money start rolling in. It's that easy!!

Girls' Night In
Girls' Night In is a fundraising program developed by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital that is for Tri Delta alumnae.  Girls' Night In involves what every woman needs, an excuse to have a "girls' night." You and your friends can have fun and socialize with a purpose behind it, supporting St. Jude. This program is also an opportunity for alumnae to get involved and help Tri Delta reach its $15 million goal.  For Girls' Night In, you have the freedom to make it whatever kind of night you all will enjoy.  Make it a happy hour, dessert social or full course dinner.  You will fundraise raise using a newly designed personal greeting card.

St Jude Milestones http://www.tridelta.org/philanthropy/stjudemilestones Over the last decade Tri Delta members around the world have raised millions of dollars for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

content-dotted-line.png

Milestones
  • In 1999, Delta Delta Delta Fraternity (Tri Delta) officially adopted St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as its philanthropic partner. In the first year, 15 of 133 chapters participated and raised $44,269.

  • In 2002, Tri Delta took on the challenge of raising $1 million over four years to endow the hospital's Teen Room. The Teen Room is a haven for patients, aged 13-19, to get away from parents, nurses, and doctors and be with kids their own age.

  • In January 2005, Tri Delta reached its $1 million goal, a full year ahead of schedule.

  • In July 2006, Tri Delta made a commitment to raise $10 million in 10 years to name the Patient Care Floor in the Chili's Care Center.

  • The Tri Delta Patient Care floor provides 18 additional patient rooms, with a parent room attached. This floor will house patients who recently received bone marrow transplants. For the first time, the parent rooms in the Chili's Care Center will include a full bathroom, with standing shower.

  • In May 2010, in just four years, Tri Delta met our $10 million fundraising goal.

  • In July 2010, Tri Delta announced its third naming commitment, a challenge to raise $15 million in 5 years to name the Specialty C-Clinic located in the Patient Care Center. The Specialty Clinic houses a broad range of services for St. Jude patients and nearly every patient will visit during their treatment.

  • Summer 2012, it was announced that Tri Delta raised more than $4.5 million in one year (2011-2012 academic year).

  • To date, Tri Delta members have raised more than $21 million for the kids at St. Jude and nearly $10 million of the $15 million goal.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the world's premier pediatric cancer research centers. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.  No child is turned away from treatment due to a family's inability to pay.  Donate to St. Jude on behalf of Tri Delta.

In August 2010, Tri Delta announced it would take on a new, more aggressive challenge - to raise $15 million in 5 years to name the Specialty Clinic located in the Patient Care Center at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  No other Greek organization has made this level of commitment to a charitable partner, and few are raising a comparable amount of money.  This new goal challenges all Tri Delta collegiate chapters & alumnae members to raise $3 million each year, collectively.

More than $4.2 million was raised during the 2011-2012 academic year and to-date, Tri Delta has raised $10.2 million to our $15 million goal.  Check out all the latest fundraising updates on Tri Delta's Facebook page, St. Jude tab.
