Chapter Retreats

Chapter members or officers can contact The Center staff to help them create a specialized curriculum for a retreat that is tailored exactly to a chapter's needs, members and objectives. Our staff realizes that every retreat is different - in length, content and member issues - and will therefore treat each one as a unique opportunity. Whatever the goals are, you are most likely to achieve them with a retreat that is individualized and special to you and your sisters. Because each retreat is written and designed, specifically for the requesting chapter, no two retreats are alike in either content or in length.

Want to know more? Click here to have a staff member contact your chapter. Then, through a series of conference calls and e-mails, the Education Team will learn as much as possible about your members and will work with the officers to make sure that the retreat topics, activities and end results are what YOU have in mind! You set the length, time and place. We set the cost, the facilitators, and the curriculum, and then together, we sit back and watch your chapter transform!

Tri Delta Convention
The Center is responsible for designing educational and leadership development tracks as well as various workshops covering a variety of relevant topics for Convention participants.

Collegiate Leadership Conference
Collegiate Leadership Conference (CLC) is a three day job training, educational and leadership development opportunity for four designated officers and an advisor from each collegiate chapter. The conference features workshops and speakers and the opportunity to network and share ideas with Tri Delta volunteers from all over the country.

Volunteer Symposium is a 3 day job training, educational and leadership development opportunity for the volunteers who work most closely with our collegiate and alumnae members. Evergreen - A Tri Delta Journey in Leadership

The Center for Living, Learning & Leading is thrilled to announce Evergreen - A Delta Delta Delta Journey in Leadership. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, where Tri Deltas will see the incredible sites of Costa Rica, and experience this country's unique and inspiring culture through the lens of your own leadership journey.

Evergreen combines the allure of travel with the breathtaking joy of self-examination and rich personal development, helping us become enduring leaders. Each day we will use the brilliant landscape of Costa Rica to help us understand the underlying truths, practices, and timeless principles of enduring leadership. We will learn from all the people and the land we are immersed in, and by participating in a service project, we will give back to the communities who host us. The lessons learned will leave an indelible impression on your soul.

Evergreen Costa Rica will take place March 8-15, 2014.

Application deadline: October 15, 2013.
Evergreen Costa Rica cost: The total cost of Evergreen Costa Rica is $3,800. Some need based scholarship funds are available. Please contact us for more information.

Upon selection for Evergreen Costa Rica 2014, selected participants will be responsible for the following important dates:
October 25, 2013: Participants are notified that they have been selected. Once participants confirm that they will attend, they will receive a complete registration packet with thorough trip details.
November 15, 2013: $500 non-refundable deposit & first payment of $500 ($1000 total due)
January 3, 2014: Final payment of $2,800 due

Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI)

UIFI is a 5-day institute hosted each summer by the North American Inter-fraternity Conference. UIFI offers participants the opportunity to explore, define, and enhance their leadership skills, personal awareness, commitment to their sorority, and grow to expect values based action from themselves and those they lead. During a session, participants experience hands-on interaction, experiential activities, discussion time and personal reflection time.

Tri Delta and The Center for Living, Learning & Leading offer a scholarship to attend this unique experience. The scholarship is named after Eve Woods Riley, Southern Methodist, for her continued support of this program. Because of Tri Delta's belief in and support of this opportunity, The Center offers five Eve Woods Riley scholarships given out each year to members of Tri Delta who express sincere interest in this experience as an opportunity to better their chapter.

Tri Delta is thrilled to offer Evergreen® 2014, sponsored by the Fraternity and The Center for Living, Learning & Leading. Evergreen is a values-based, leadership development program that focuses on leadership skills, self-examination and personal development through a cultural experience.

When & where does Evergreen take place?

What are the costs and deadlines?

Evergreen Costa Rica deadlines:

Who attends Evergreen?
Any collegiate member may apply for Evergreen Costa Rica. Individual leadership development is the primary goal of Evergreen and we are looking for participants who are eager to broaden their leadership skills and willing to fully immerse themselves into the culture and learning opportunities presented. There are no prerequisites to apply and we will select participants from various schools, classifications and levels of leadership experience.

There is limited availability for Evergreen and applications will go through a selection process. Our selection committee will select 24 participants for Evergreen.

Collegiate participants are accompanied by Tri Delta Executive Office staff and volunteers. They will be a part of all activities and excursions and stay at the same hotels and/or campsites as participants. Participants will receive contact information for these individuals prior to the trip.

What are the participant's expectations?
All selected participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver for the trip, participate in both preparation phone calls and follow up phone calls, video interviews throughout the trip and assistance in marketing future trips. Thorough expectations and participants guidelines are provides within a registration packet.

What types of leadership development will take place?
Evergreen participants are immediately challenged to step out of their comfort zones and be open to the many leadership lessons of the unique Evergreen curriculum. Through videos, group discussion, small group break outs, personal reflection, journaling opportunities and the specific trip activities, participants learn a great deal about themselves as a leader. They will explore the unique skills they currently possess, think about what they would like to improve upon and explore ways to apply their skills to their lives. Participants will explore social styles and learn about their individual qualities as leaders. They will learn lessons in healthy communication, understanding the differences that we have with others, skills in leading others and team work- all in a unique environment among sisters.

What types of activities take place?
Participants spend time daily in a conference center preparing for the leadership lessons of the day. Various conversations take place among the group as it relates to the overall experience. Additionally, the group will go on daily excursions which are applicable to the lessons they are learning. Excursions include:

Monteverde Cloud Forest- Participants hike through a forest at an altitude so high that that you are walking through the clouds.
Butterfly Garden- Learn about the "bug" life of Costa Rica and tour a butterfly garden
Costa Rican family farm- Visit the home of a past Costa Rica president and learn to cook authentic Costa Rican food
Arenal volcanic excursion- Hike through a rain forest and climb the Arenal volcano, Costa Rica's most active volcano.
Tabacon hot springs- Visit natural hot springs
Waterfall hike- This hike is a personal challenge down 500 stairs to the base of a beautiful waterfall
White water rafting- Participants raft down the Balsa River
Zip-line- fly through the trees on this unique zip line experience

How are participants selected?
Tri Delta and The Center for Living, Learning & Leading will have a selection committee comprised of staff members, The Center Board members and past Evergreen participants. They will be responsible for reviewing applications and selecting participants for Evergreen.

What are the accommodations?
Participants will stay at two different hotels. Hotel information is provided to participation upon registration. Participants will share rooms with other collegiate participants. Internet access is not always reliable and participants should not expect to have regular online access.

What if Evergreen conflicts with my class schedule?
Participants should prepare to make arrangements to miss any class that will take place during Evergreen®. Participants are provided with a letter that they may give to professors explaining the nature of the trip. Tri Delta cannot guarantee excusal and participants are responsible for working with their professors individually. Participants should not anticipate much free time to do school work or online course work during the trip.
