There are four easy ways to ensure you continue to receive Tri Delta's award-winning magazine, and trust us, you don't want to miss an issue!

content-dotted-line.png

Don't Miss an Issue

spr13_CVRr3.jpgCollegiate members receive The Trident through payment of Fraternity dues to their chapters.  Individual copies are mailed to each undergraduate member's permanent address, and four copies are sent to each chapter.

Alumnae members receive The Trident through payment of Fraternity dues or through the purchase of an annual subscription for $20 a year.  Or, members can purchase a digital subscription through the iTunes store for $20.99 and have the magazine delivered digitally to any Apple device. Alumnae members may pay Fraternity dues by becoming Life Loyal Tri Deltas or by paying dues to an alumnae chapter.  The Life Loyal membership fee pays Fraternity dues and ensures a print subscription to The Trident for life (digital subscriptions may still be purchased separately).

Note:  If you are not a Tri Delta and would like to receive The Trident, we'll be glad to accommodate you!  Send us your request to trident@trideltaeo.org.

How to Get Published http://www.tridelta.org/trident/how_to_get_published The Trident staff is always happy to receive your submission.

content-dotted-line.png

All members are encouraged to submit news and stories to The Trident.  Tell us about your accomplishments, events and experiences, and include photographs if you have them.

If you are not a member and have news that about a member, or news that might be relevant to Tri Delta, please contact The Trident editorial team at trident@trideltaeo.org. We will provide you with submission information.

Submission Tips

  • Content should be timely, brief and recognize achievement and newsworthy activity.
  • Photographs should reflect the standards and values of the Fraternity.  Any references, written or pictorial, of inappropriate activities will be edited.
  • Pictures of "Delta fingers," alcoholic beverages, babies or brides will not be published, except on the rare occasion when a picture is the only one available or the photo depicts a special or unusual event.
  • Please review all photography guidelines before submitting a photo to The Trident.

The Trident editorial staff reserves the right to edit accordingly.

Submission deadlines are:

Fall - August 15

Winter - October 15

Spring - January 15

Summer - June 15

Note: These deadlines are estimates provided for your convenience.  Due to a quarterly production schedule, between one and three issues may appear before a submission is published.

Photography Guidelines http://www.tridelta.org/trident/trident_photo_guidelines We love getting your submissions, but sometimes we can't use them. Following these "do's and don'ts" will help you get your photos printed in the magazine!

DO:

Learn about megapixels. Use a high-quality megapixel camera of 2.5 megapixel or higher.

Use the high-resolution setting on your camera. Usually it's described as "TV" or "full screen." This will give you a high-resolution image. The requirements for a Trident submission must be an image that is a minimum of 18" x 26" at 72ppi (pixels per inch). Ex: (18 x 72ppi) x (26 x 72ppi) =  2,426,112 or 2.5 MB (megabytes). You can usually tell the image size when you email it. If the size is in KB (kilabytes), it's usually too small. Ex: 10" x 14" at 72ppi is 726KB. It is low-resolution and can't be used.

Best photo format to send is a jpeg. Please send a color image.

Turn off the automatic date on your camera.

Provide a photo caption. Describe what is happening in the photo — the more details, the better! If there are six or less people in your photo, send us their names (including maiden name) and schools.

Find an interesting pose. Too often, the group photos we receive have everyone lined up like a grade-school class. Have people sitting and standing. Be creative by finding an interesting background or taking the photo from above. Take action shots while everyone is doing something. Usually these are more interesting than posed group shots.

Take multiple shots, not just one or two. Too many times someone has their eyes closed or it's out of focus. Watch for red-eyes. Sometimes we can edit that out, and sometimes we can't.

If taking your photo with "delta fingers," take another photo without them and submit both to us.

Make sure your photo is clear, not too dark or blurry. When taking the photo, pay attention to the foreground and background. Look for bright lights, exit signs or fire alarms on walls that are distracting. If taking a photo in a dining room, remove drinking glasses and food so they won't clutter up the photo.

DO NOT:

Do not send photos downloaded directly from Facebook or Twitter or embedded in MS Word (the files will be too small).

Please do not edit your photo in any graphic program.

Do not send photos containing alcohol or drinks that look like they contain alcohol. And do not send bridal or baby portraits.

Do not have too many people in your photo. By the time the photo is reduced to fit in The Trident, the faces are too small and can't be seen.

Try not to mail original photos (hard copies.) If this is your only way of sending an image, that is fine but generally the photo does not have enough detail to reprint successfully in the magazine.

LASTLY:

Email or upload your photo to us. To email, send it to trident@trideltaeo.org. To upload, use our online form at http://www.tridelta.org/trident/submission_form.

If photo size is too big for email, try using www.yousendit.com. If you need further assistance, call Executive Office at 817-633-8001 and ask for someone in Communications.

Feel free to submit copy-only stories.

DigiMag Information http://www.tridelta.org/trident/digimag The Trident has officially launched its first digital issue and can be downloaded to your iPhone or iPad on the new Trident app.

You can download the Trident app by visiting the iTunes or app store and searching for The Trident of Delta Delta Delta (make sure exactly "The Trident of Delta Delta Delta" is typed into the search). While the app itself is free to download, accessing the full magazine content of each issue requires a digital subscription of $20.99 a year, purchased through your iTunes account. Subscriptions automatically renew each year.

summer12_CVR.jpgPlease note that the digital subscription is separate from print subscriptions, so even if you already receive The Trident in your mailbox, you will need to purchase a digital subscription to download the magazine on your Apple mobile devices.Members who purchase a printed subscription of The Trident will not be able to download the magazine via iPhone or iPad unless they also purchase the digital subscription via iTunes.

If you are a life loyal member or you pay Fraternity dues through your local alumnae chapter, you will continue to receive a hard copy of the magazine in the mail. Should you wish to purchase a digital subscription and NOT receive a printed copy in the mail, you will need to contact Executive Office to cancel the printed version of the magazine.
