Not only is Cassie the alumna advisor for Theta Theta Chapter at the University of Nevada-Reno, she’s currently a Ph.D. student at the university, studying atmospheric science.
Many of the practical skills Cassie uses in her day-to-day work, she learned from Tri Delta. “Being a scientist, going through school, you don’t really learn communication and general leadership skills — Tri Delta gave that to me. My degree has given me broad knowledge and expertise, but in terms of people skills, business skills and organizational skills, I gained those through Tri Delta.”
Heidi has worked as a patrol officer for the past decade before becoming a detective in January 2015. She attributes her ability to talk to different people of various backgrounds to the skills learned during recruitment. “All the conversation training we had during recruitment has helped me be able to initiate conversations, sometimes with difficult people.”
She’s currently serving as a collegiate district officer. She says, I feel like I’m a better member today. I still feel I’m being developed as a member. Even as a volunteer, I’m learning a lot of new things.”
Shelley Bowles Green
Shelley’s love of politics led her to a degree in international affairs and political science, and a master’s degree in executive management. Today she is a partner at Tidewater Consulting, Inc. and is responsible for handling the accounting and human resources.
She credits her time in the Alpha Eta Chapter for the experience needed to successfully navigate the political world. “I was from a large chapter of 150 plus women, and I think that helped prepare me for the workplace by exposing me to a diverse group of people…I learned how to compromise and how to find a meeting point on an issue.”
Tri Delta’s volunteer force is what keeps Tri Delta vital and ensures that the future of the Fraternity remains stable. Without our incredible volunteers, Tri Delta’s innovative programming and opportunities for personal growth and development would not be possible.
