Colonization and Installation

Establishing a new Tri Delta chapter is one of the most exciting events for our Fraternity and our members.  When a Tri Delta chapter welcomes its first group of new members, the chapter is considered a colony.  The colonization process includes educating students about opportunities for Tri Delta membership, holding informational sessions about Tri Delta, hosting recruitment events, planning for chapter administration and management, making connections with campus faculty and staff and informing them of Tri Delta’s establishment, and working extensively with students and administrators to recruit the best and brightest students for Tri Delta membership.

Once the new member education program has been completed and standard initiation requirements have been met, the chapter may be installed.  The Executive Board reviews both the Tri Delta and academic calendars and selects a date in accordance with local Panhellenic and university regulations.

Installation includes Tri Delta rituals and initiation, a campus reception and the installation banquet.  Families and friends are invited to attend the installation banquet which includes the official presentation of the charter and gifts to the new chapter.  At the campus reception, friends, students, faculty and administrators are invited to welcome the new chapter to the campus.  Tri Delta collegians and alumnae from the area along with Fraternity officers, volunteers and Executive Office staff members from across the country attend installation.
