Why do we need to have a delegate? The chief purpose of Convention is to conduct Fraternity business. Official alumnae delegates are encouraged to be a part of the decision-making process by voicing their opinions and voting on important issues. To ensure that your chapter is represented at business meetings, each chapter should send at least one official delegate to Convention.
Who should serve as our delegate? Only a member-in-good standing according to the Fraternity may serve as a delegate. Her Fraternity dues for the 2007-2008 fiscal year must be received at Executive Office by June 1, 2008. In addition, the alumnae chapter the delegate represents must have paid its dues and operating and bonding fee and submitted its officer list.
If your chapter is able to send more than one member to represent the chapter, one of those members should be designated as an alternate. In the event that the official delegate will not be able to attend Convention, the alternate delegate will assume the position of official delegate. Executive Office should be notified immediately of any changes to the delegation.
All delegates and designated alternates must complete the credentials form (included with your registration packet) and return it to Executive Office. If your chapter will not be represented at the 2008 Convention, the credentials form should still be returned to Executive Office with a disclaimer stating there will not be a delegate from your chapter.
What expenses will our chapter be responsible for? The alumnae chapter or the delegate is responsible for all Convention expenses for both official and alternate delegates.
