Why do we need to have a delegate? The chief purpose of Convention is to conduct Fraternity business. Official collegiate delegates are encouraged to be a part of the decision-making process by voicing their opinions and voting on important issues. To ensure that your chapter is represented at business meetings, each chapter should send at least one official delegate to Convention.
Who should serve as our delegate? Most collegiate chapters send their chapter president to be their Convention delegate, however, any collegiate member in good standing according to Fraternity records may serve as her chapter's delegate.
If your chapter is able to send more than one member to represent the chapter, one of those members should be designated as an alternate. In the event that the official delegate will not be able to attend Convention, the alternate delegate will assume the position of official delegate. Executive Office should be notified immediately of any changes to the delegation.
All delegates and designated alternates must complete the credentials form (included with your registration packet) and return it to Executive Office.
What expenses will our chapter be responsible for? For each official collegiate delegate, the Fraternity will pay for a shared room, all Convention meals and the equivalent of an economy round-trip airfare between the delegate's home and the Convention site. Delegates for whom the Fraternity pays for travel must use Tri Delta's official travel agent, Canyon Creek Travel.
The delegate or the delegate's chapte is responsible for the $175 registration fee. The Fraternity does not pay any of the expenses for an alternate delegate.
Can the delegate participate in Educational Tracks? Official chapter delegates are not elgible to participate in educational tracks during Convention. The educational tracks are designed for other chapter officers. Delegates will have the opportunity to attend alternate educational workshops during Convention.
How should I know what to expect as the delegate? Delegates can look forward to pre-Convention communication geared toward delegate preparation.
