You will be introduced to the architectural wonders, dynamic sculpture and breathtaking skyline of this World Class City. You will see such marvels as the tallest building on the North American Continent and spectacular new construction sitting along side some of the oldest buildings in the city, as you discover Chicago’s exciting diversity of art and architectural styles.
On your exclusive, customized tour, time will be spent exploring some of the unique, outstanding buildings in the Loop such as the James R. Thompson Center, the Rookery, the Monadnock, the first skyscrapers to be erected, the Board of Trade (a fine example of Art Deco architecture) and the Mies van der Rohe designed federal buildings. You will be introduced to the famous outdoor sculptures along Dearborn Street - works by Miro, du Buffet and Calder and the Picasso in Daley Center.
You will travel along some of the 26 miles of uninterrupted shoreline, see Chicago’s inviting harbors, watch the city as it seems to rise out of Lake Michigan and drive past Millennium Park with the Anish Kapoor reflective “Cloud Gate”, Frank Gehry’s magnificent music pavilion and curving bridge and the gorgeous gardens along Michigan Avenue.
Time and weather permitting you may be able to walk through some of the areas described above. You’ll also pass the Prairie Avenue Historic District with Glessner House and the oldest home in the city (Clarke House.) There is surely something to interest everyone.
A special stop will be made at Planetarium Point on the Museum Campus for the perfect “photo op” of the city’s breathtaking skyline. Your guide will point out Buckingham Fountain, the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium and Oceanarium, the Field Museum of Natural History and Soldier Field.
The last stop on your exciting city tour will be at Sears Tower. Your ACET guide will take the group to the Sears Skydeck situated on the 101st Floor of the building for a spectacular view of the city as it sprawls beneath your feet.
