A Tri Delta Elected to House of Representatives
Arlington, Texas -- January 4, 2007 -- Kathy Castor, Emory, was elected to the position of United States Representative from Florida’s 11th district in the November elections, and took office on January 4, 2007.
Kathy easily won the September primary, defeating her four challengers with 53% of the vote, a full 20 points of her closest competitor, State Senate Minority Leader Les Miller. A moderate Democrat with a history of promoting ethics in government, Kathy was preceded in the House by Democrat Jim Davis.
Born in Miami, Dade County, Florida, Kathy holds a bachelors degree in political science from Emory University and a J.D. from Florida State University Law School. She is married to William Lewis, and they have two daughters. For more information on Kathy, visit Kathy Castor for Congress.
