Founders' Day Message: 2008

Newly-installed Fraternity president Jackye Brown Clark, Texas/Arlington, shares her thoughts on Tri Delta and the eternal bonds of friendship in our 120th year of sisterhood.

TriDelta imageOne hundred and twenty years ago this Thanksgiving Eve, two young women set out to create an organization that would be “something distinctive, something worthy of the best in us – not only now, but always.” As we come together this Founders’ Day, we celebrate the wonderful gift given to each of us when we pledged our loyalty and service to Tri Delta.

As new members, that gift may have seemed small.  We learned a little of the history of Tri Delta, we made some new friends and we were offered a few opportunities to grow as a leader.

But as we continue to develop through our membership, our gift from Tri Delta grows, too. During our collegiate and alumnae years, we add layers of friendships with women who support our dreams and goals, women who share our common values and beliefs.

Our Ritual is a gift shared by every initiated Tri Delta.  It is the heart of our Fraternity, encouraging us to be women of integrity. We grow and learn about ourselves as we live out our Ritual.  Whether leading others or participating in chapter activities, Tri Delta seeks out what is best about each of us and inspires us to be better.

Throughout Tri Delta’s history, our organization has focused on ways to engage our members in meaningful and innovative commitments.  We are challenged to think more of others than ourselves. Our gift of unselfish leadership grows with our dedication to fight childhood cancer through our partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as well as other hospitals across the country.

So many things have changed over the past 120 years, but one thing that has not changed is the extraordinary gift we receive from Tri Delta. This Founders’ Day, it is my hope you will open and cherish your gift. This year, may all 3Ds focus on the 3Rs: Reflect on your Tri Delta membership. Reconnect with your Tri Delta sisters.  Recommit your loyalty, service and dedication to Delta Delta Delta.

Loyally,

TriDelta image
