St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Child Life department hosts the annual St. Jude Teen and Young Adult Formal each spring. This year's event will be held on April 16.
The gala event allows teens who may miss their own high school formals due to treatment to experience and share in the magic of prom night. Patients and their siblings, ages 13-24, are invited to the special event held in the Danny Thomas/ALSAC Pavilion.
Prior to the prom, the girls are treated to a "pamper party" to have their hair, makeup and nails done, and the boys are fitted for tuxedos. Then, the young people travel in style to the pavilion, arriving in limousines to walk the red carpet to the cheers of family, friends and hospital staff before enjoying a night of live music, dancing, and photo opportunities.
All prom dresses are received through donations, and Tri Delta chapters across the nation stepped up to raid their closets and donate their own formal dresses to the cause. Collegiate Tri Deltas donated 715 dresses alone! In fact, Tri Delta's newest chapter, Epsilon Mu at Creighton University, donated the most of any Tri Delta chapter - 175!
Thanks to all of the Tri Delta chapters who stepped in to help make the St. Jude prom extra special for the deserving young women of St. Jude.
