Then at Convention 2012, Academic Excellence Chairman from collegiate chapters across North America came together and dove deep into academic resources, incentives, policies, programs and workshops. One concept learned at Convention was that of our MPR Model.
Not every collegiate member will share the same academic goals nor will they all feel the same about how their individual grades are relevant to Tri Delta. However, part of being a Tri Delta means adhering to the outlined academic requirements.
Implementing academic excellence in Tri Delta may sometimes mean offering incentives or rewards to get members motivated and more excited about putting in the extra effort toward academics. It means providing resources for those who need them and it also means acknowledging members for their own personal efforts and successes.
Tri Delta encourages the use of the following MPR model. When the chapter motivates members with incentives and benefits to achieve Academic Excellence, provides members the resources needed to assist them in this process and then recognizes any individual academic achievement, the cycle is predicted to repeat itself, ultimately due to the opportunity for recognition.
The MPR model allows chapters to be proactive about the programs they provide to their membership, thus setting a precedent for making academics a priority. If implemented effectively, in a way that is purposeful for the members, chapters will see this affect the academic success of the chapter. If chapters are proactive about this purposeful implementation, they will have to be less reactive regarding members that do not meet the chapter's academic requirements.
Look at one way we found Elon University recognizing its members for academic success! This is just one great example and we are anxious to know how your chapter has been encouraging academic excellence!
