Maya is known by her friends and family as someone who asks all the tough questions.
“I want to create more spaces within the Fraternity to have challenging conversations, ask tough questions and have everyone’s truths be welcomed,” she says. “The sorority experience is multi-dimensional, and a large part of its success is being able to have genuine, uncomfortable conversations in communities that are safe to do so. Tri Delta offers such a unique opportunity for learning and growth as we collectively struggle to find our place in larger discussions around issues that affect women today.”
Maya is currently studying at the University of Ottawa where she serves as a committee member on the University of Ottawa Sexual Violence Prevention Committee. She also serves as Panhellenic advisor at Carleton University and is working to self-publish her first book. To her, being a Life Loyal Tri Delta means a continual commitment to the success of the Fraternity.
“That commitment renews our spirit to spread Tri Delta’s influence abroad and ensure that the faith that our Founders held in the first members to proudly wear our letters is instilled in the members who begin their journey with Tri Delta today.”
She adds, “I recognize my duty to render willing service to the Fraternity as it is the very least I could do, considering what the Fraternity has been able to do for me in a few short years. Tri Delta has challenged me not only to be the best version of myself, but the most genuine — and for that I will always be grateful.”
