Tri Deltas Go for the Gold

This summer, three Tri Deltas will be competing in Rio de Janeiro during the 2016 Olympic Games! All three of these women may look familiar — they all competed in the 2012 summer Olympics and were featured in the Fall 2012 Trident.

Silver medalist in the 2012 Olympic Games in London
Sport: Diving
Fun fact: Abby started out as a gymnast but turned to diving after an injury. She currently balances diving with academics…she began medical school at Duke in fall 2014.

Sport: Sailing
Fun fact: Both Paige and her brother Zach competed in the London Olympics. She first fell in love with sailing as a five-year-old when her brother took up the sport.

Mariya_SMALLMariya Koroleva, Stanford

Sport: Synchronized Swimming
Fun fact: Mariya emigrated from Russia when she was a young child and later became a U.S. citizen. At Stanford, Mariya’s roommate was a Tri Delta sister and fellow 2012 Olympian Annika Dries.

Lauren Schmetterling, Colgate

Sport: Rowing, women’s coxed eight
Fun fact: Since 2013, when Lauren began rowing, she has competed in many international competitions which led to her recent her participation in the 2016 Olympic Games. When she is not out on the water she enjoys crossword puzzles, downhill skiing and napping.
