April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a national campaign focused on raising awareness about sexual violence and prevention. Tri Delta members can boldly lead the way by engaging in SAAM and using resources from our SAAM Toolkit, designed to help educate members on topics like consent, safe online spaces, healthy relationships and more.
The theme of Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2026 is “25 Years Stronger: Looking Back, Moving Forward.” This April’s campaign encourages us to honor the hard work of the past and reaffirm our commitment to a safer future for all. We are encouraged to engage in community-wide efforts toward preventing sexual abuse, assault and harassment.
Reflection is important this month. As we reflect on the history of SAAM and its goals of awareness, prevention and the fight for justice, we can also reflect on how that aligns with our values as Tri Deltas. Tri Delta’s commitment to truth, self-sacrifice and friendship calls us to support one another, prioritize the safety and dignity of others and speak honestly about the realities of sexual violence and its impacts. By listening to and believing survivors, educating ourselves about prevention and fostering a culture of care, we live out our values and work toward safer communities for everyone.
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) has compiled multiple resources for anyone to use. Ideas to activate in your community virtually or through in-person events include:
- Using the comprehensive Event Planning Guide to host an event
- Engaging in the #30DaysOfSAAM2026 Instagram challenge
- Reading and sharing the SAAM 2026 Proclamation We specifically want to highlight Participating in action day and wear teal on Tuesday, April 7 (tag @tridelta and use #SAAM26)
- Participating in Denim Day on Wednesday, April 29.
We invite our chapters to join our efforts to continue the conversation about sexual assault, educate our members and share resources that will help our members fight sexual assault on campus. Take action by using the “How to Engage in SAAM” guide located on the Resource Library.
As Tri Deltas, we can demonstrate our commitment to supporting survivors, raising awareness and working to end sexual violence in our communities. Make sure to stay in the loop on the events your campus and communities may be hosting throughout April, and encourage your sisters to engage in them as well.
