Psi Psi Psi (Tri Psi) is the only Greek letter mothers’ sorority and is open to all mothers, step-mothers and foster mothers of Tri Deltas.
The purpose of Psi Psi Psi is “to be a strong and dependable ally to Tri Delta.” Its members take pride in living up to this purpose, and they are appreciated by Tri Delta collegians and alumnae alike. In its more than 100 years of existence, Tri Psi has supported Tri Delta members and chapters, as well as provided scholarships and other aid.
“Psi Psi Psi is unique in it is the only mothers’ sorority, which appeals to those women who never had a chance to join a sorority before,” says Tri Psi Past International President Olive Jeejeebhoy. “It is for a lifetime, and its scope of service is not for one daughter of one chapter, but for all daughters in all chapters. It offers its members a unity of strength not found in local mothers’ clubs.”
In addition to donations, gifts and many hours of service each chapter provides for its Tri Delta chapters, Tri Psi sorority has two major ongoing projects. Each year, Tri Psi awards $1,000 scholarships to members of Tri Delta entering their junior year. And in 1957, Tri Psi’s Memorial Loan Fund was established to provide low-interest loans to Tri Deltas doing graduate study.
Sarah Starkey, Creighton, a 2016 scholarship recipient said, “Receiving this scholarship meant so much to me — as I was able to dedicate more time to Tri Delta and furthering my education, and spend less time worrying about working. I was able to pay my dues with no stress, which was immensely appreciated. My sisters were so supportive and proud of me, too! This scholarship was wonderful, and I will always appreciate Tri Psi for giving me the opportunity to be a part of their scholarship program!”
Tri Psi 2017 scholarship applications are due March 5, 2017. To apply, go here.
In 2016, Tri Psi awarded scholarships to 11 Tri Deltas:
