Alumnae Chapter News – Fall 2024

September 5, 2024
News, Sisterhood

It’s so wonderful to see the activity of our alumnae chapters! They have been busy with a wonderful mix of outings, philanthropy events, weddings and sisterhood celebrations. What a great way to bond and showcase the strength and spirit of Tri Delta across the country!

ARKANSAS

Central Arkansas had an impressive attendance of 40 people who joined the annual Deltas and Desserts event including alumnae, collegiate members, moms, daughters and 15 potential new members invited by an alum or collegiate.

The CADDDA executive committee voted to donate $500 to the newly endowed Delta Iota House Corporation Scholarship fund to support active members of Delta Iota.

CADDDA hosted Sisters and Shamrocks Happy Hour to celebrate our record-breaking membership of 125 dues paying members to date! It was a festive evening with a diverse attendance of members aged 20 to 80. A vote was taken on updated bylaws, our inaugural membership engagement survey and annual Pansy Celebration Brunch were announced,

Kara, the newly elected president of the San Jose alumnae chapter, hosted a board meeting in her lovely home.  Kara served a delicious brunch on beautiful pansy dishes!!  The meeting was lively and productive.

Southern Orange County hosted Delta Love, a Galentine’s philanthropy project, which involved writing Valentine’s and thank-you notes for first responders and surprising them with gift baskets filled with snacks. The Valentine baskets were delivered to local fire stations by our members as a thank-you for their dedication to our community.

NORTH CAROLINA

25 members of the Charlotte alumnae chapter gathered on the poolside patio on a perfect spring day for a Pansy Tea at the Lake Norman home of Denise Helbing Root, South Florida. Delicious savory sandwiches and sweets were served, including several gluten-free options. There were even Delta cookies and pansy ice cubes! Two members were honored with the Golden Circle Ceremony for 50 years of membership, too. It was a beautiful celebration of Tri Delta Sisterhood!

Six members prepared and served dinner to the guests and staff of the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte, NC. The menu: chicken broccoli rice cheddar casserole, garlic bread and tossed green salad. Yum! The guests and staff really ate it up, literally! We, as Tri Deltas, truly enjoy serving others.

How sweet it is – enjoying a private Easter cookie decorating class in Cornelius, NC, in the home of the instructor. We learned the techniques of using Royal Icing to create beautiful works of edible art. Sweet!

Zip Code Ambassadors invite sisters who live in neighboring zip codes and all Delta’s were welcome to attend. Marty Viser, Charleston organized a wonderful Delta Dinner on Leap Day in the Southpark neighborhood of Charlotte at Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen. Great conversation was shared over a delicious meal!

The largest ever Golden Circle Degree Ceremony during the annual Pansy Breakfast brunch – hosted in the home of Barbara Smartt MacIntosh, Oregon, where the group was treated to beautiful spring weather, wonderful brunch, Fraternity Candle Ceremony and a wonderful time of Delta Love Sisterhood.

Barbara MacIntosh hosted a crafting event, creating warm and cuddly baby quilts. The blankets were donated to the Mother & Child Education Center* whose mission is “Connecting, Educating, and Supporting Parents during their Pregnancy & Early Childhood Years.” The event was so successful that it was agreed to make this a “must repeat” philanthropy. The members enjoyed light refreshments to close the afternoon.
