Virtual Sisterhood #WithDDD

November 6, 2020
Sisterhood

While COVID-19 forced us to be socially distant this year, Tri Deltas responded by taking our sisterhood virtual #WithDDD! From trivia nights to self-care and exercise classes, our members adapted to this brave (bold and kind!) new world by virtually connecting across generations, chapters and countries.

#WithDDD

Leading into our Summer of Sisterhood, and later our Fall for Kindness, Tri Delta launched #WithDDD, a variety of regular virtual events and activities allowing sisters to connect over a common interest. These events included trivia and bingo nights, meditation and fitness classes, crafts and a reading group.

Tracey Cohen, Adelphi, attended several of the virtual events throughout the spring, including Tri Delta Trivia and a “Pamper Yourself” session hosted by Lisa Diskin, Toledo. For Tracey, it was the perfect opportunity to meet sisters from all over.

“Getting to chat with sisters across the country was my favorite part,” shared Tracey.  “In the past I’ve only been able to meet sisters from all over by attending Convention, or when an alumna that didn’t go to the same college attends one of our chapter events or joins our alumnae chapter.”

“If we can’t be with our sisters in person, being together virtually is the next best thing,” said Tracey.

“We all once pledged steadfast love, and in times of crisis we all need our sisters.  Even if we had never met before, there’s that inner instant Tri Delta Love.”

During Fall for Kindness, additional events include our first-ever virtual International Founders’ Day celebration, taking place on Nov. 8, followed by a Wear and Share Zoom event, encouraging sisters to wear their letters and share their stories on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Walking With Purpose

Walking With Purpose is Tri Delta’s way of staying active and connected to our sisters during this time of social distancing. In honor of our founding 132 years ago, we challenged our members to walk 132,000 miles collectively between now and Founders’ Day 2020. After hitting the goal early, we increased it 200,000! As of the beginning of November we were already 75% of the way to reaching 200,000 miles!

As part of the challenge, Herff Jones—our official jeweler—made a $9,000 gift to Tri Delta’s Foundation for reaching our initial goal. And our financial technology partner OmegaFi has pledged a  gift of $10,000 when we reach our new goal of 200,000 miles!

If you haven’t already, be sure to join Walking With Purpose by logging your miles on My Tri Delta! Sport your Tri Delta colors or letters, and lace up your shoes. Be sure to check out Tri Delta’s Spotify playlists, and start moving #withDDD!
