While references are no longer required for membership, they do help to identify women who are interested in Tri Delta membership. Tri Delta members in good standing can use this form to introduce a potential new member after signing in to your My Tri Delta account.
We want to know who is interested in membership in Tri Delta. If it’s YOU or someone you know, let us know. Use this form to introduce yourself or a potential new member to Tri Delta.
What is a reference?
A reference form is a great way to introduce a potential new member (PNM) to a Tri Delta chapter. The form provides information about the PNM to the chapter. This information will help the chapter gauge PNM interest in joining Tri Delta and learn more about the PNM’s interests and accomplishments.
Does a PNM need a reference to be considered for membership in Tri Delta?
No. References are no longer required for membership, though they are helpful when introducing a PNM to Tri Delta.
What should I include in a reference?
The information you provide in a reference should be factual and related to the PNM’s interests, involvement, community service and/or work experience, leadership experience, and academic accomplishments and honors.
Why should I write a reference?
Writing a reference is a great opportunity to introduce a PNM to a Tri Delta chapter and to share your specific knowledge about the PNM with them. This information can be helpful for chapters as they often have limited time to get to know PNMs during the recruitment process—the more they know ahead of time, the more productive conversations they can have with the PNM.
Who can write a reference?
Anyone can submit a reference on behalf of a PNM including Tri Delta collegiate and alumnae members, non-members, and PNMs. Not every PNM has a relationship with a Tri Delta member, so allowing anyone to submit a reference creates an equal opportunity to have their information shared with the Tri Delta chapter on their campus.
When can a reference be submitted?
References can be submitted to Tri Delta chapters at any time. It is recommended that references be submitted to the chapter no later than three weeks prior to the chapter’s formal recruitment process, however chapters welcome references at all points throughout the academic year as part of their year-round recruitment efforts. Most campuses publish their formal recruitment dates on their Panhellenic website.
Does submitting a reference guarantee any special consideration for the PNM?
No. While the information is certainly helpful to chapters as they prepare for recruitment conversations, submitting a reference on behalf of a PNM does not guarantee they will receive any special consideration for membership or an invitation to recruitment events.
If a PNM has family members in Tri Delta or another fraternity/sorority, will they receive any special consideration?
No. Tri Delta chapters will not give special consideration to a PNM based on their relationship with family members who hold membership in Tri Delta or other fraternities/sororities. This means they will not be guaranteed an invitation for membership or an invitation to recruitment events.
